Replacement of 7 Bridges at Various Locations
Georgia DOT
The Georgia Department of Transportation selected Lowe Engineers for 7 Bridge Replacement Projects. These projects located in district 3 included 6 locations over streams and one location over a railroad. The existing bridges, constructed during the 1930’s and 1940’s, are structurally deficient for today’s traffic. Each project will include temporary detours to maintain the existing traffic during construction and approximately 4,000 feet of roadway improvements. Professional services included survey of road design, right-of-way design and project management. |

Ronald Reagan Parkway
Gwinnett County , GA
This 3.1 mile project for the Gwinnett County DOT consisted of a 4-lane divided highway with a twenty-foot raised median entirely on new location and included the design of three interchanges. The project included the preliminary design for eight bridges, including four over major streams and one railroad bridge. The design compared major structural components and systems based on serviceability, ease of construction, geotechnical and hydrological considerations, and cost evaluation for each structure. Professional services included right-of-way plans, final construction plan, erosion control plans, staging plans, and signing and pavement marking plans. Wetlands and flood plain impacts were carefully evaluated to minimize impact and hydrological studies were prepared and submitted to FEMA on three major streams including Sweetwater Creek and the Yellow River. |
