Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport Pavement Management GIS
Atlanta, GA
Lowe Engineers assisted the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport engineering staff and the Aviation Consulting Engineers (ACE) in the creation and use of a GIS for their pavement management program. Utilizing ArcView software, the innovative information provided by Lowe will allow ACE to review the maintenance requirements of the slabs in the future and to better manage the pavement systems. Trends in performance can be studied in more detail, relating variables on a graphic basis that before where only useable in tables and data bases.

GIS Database
Paulding County, GA
As one of the fastest growing counties in the metropolitan Atlanta area and to keep up with the large amount of development and necessary infrastructure improvements, Paulding County selected Lowe Engineers to prepare a complete Geographic Information System of the entire county. The project started in 2001 with the monumentation and GPS observation of more than 200 horizontal and vertical control points across the county. Aerial photography was used to prepare digital topographic data broken out by tiles, or map sections, starting on the east side of the county and working westerly. Road intersections, utilities, and other infrastructure were located using the photography. Field checks and data accuracy checks were performed using Pro XR GPS receivers and also using RTK methods. All data was prepared digitally in ARCVIEW and ARC GIS format. Additionally, all cadastral land records were cataloged and registered into the GIS. The county wide GIS, GPS and other digital data are currently being used by all sectors of the Paulding County Government. |
